choices

I've been wondering lately how far we will go to make sacrifices for our children's sake. I tend to be an extremely selfish person and I shock myself sometimes how shallow I am, how I'm more concerned about appearances than doing the very best thing for my family. I've also spent a lot of time thinking about the choices we make daily and the effect they have on our children. Parenting is arguably the most important job we do, as we're preparing the world of tomorrow... We've come up against some issues lately that confound me a little - do we choose the best way for our children, or do we choose the way that keeps us more financially secure? What are we willing to sacrifice for the spiritual safety of our children? I don't have everything sorted out yet, but I've been busy thinking...

I'd love to hear some input!

  1. I think if you do the things you feel God wants you to in regards to raising your children, he will provide the finances. Put it in his hands.

  2. I think if you went through your entire "parenting" life without ever questioning then you would be doing something wrong. The fact that you are questioning means that you are always open to doing things the best and better for your kids. That is the proof of a good parent. Our kids are changing on a daily basis so we have to also. The thing we have found with our kids is that we have to make the decisions and lead them the way we feel God is directing them, but we have to remember that they are also individuals and they are going to make choices too. Making bad choices are part of the learning curve sometimes and not a reflection on us as parents.
