cool shades

After we moved into our new house, we shopped desparately for window blinds. Not used to living in town, I craved some privacy, as well as shade from the bright summer sun. After perusing so many catalogues and stores and websites that my retinas were pretty much shot (the blinding sun every evening didn't help!), I came across a company called Select Blinds Canada. They are... drumroll, please... Canadian-based! The blinds are custom-made in 1/8" increments. They also ship for free within Canada right to your door and it only takes about 3 weeks. If that isn't enough to sell you, then check out their awesome selection of any style or colour. I ordered these shades for the living room, in the colour Elisa Mahogany. The only thing I would do different is order a privacy or blackout lining because these are more light-filtering.

  1. Those blinds are very pretty. I know what you mean about the light though. We have some kind of remote operated shades that really just dull the brightness of the sun. Sometimes you just want pitch black, you know?

  2. Exactly, Kellie! And the sun is lower these days so we're finding it pretty bright.

  3. I just read your comment over at busymama on your son not wanting any of his food to touch. Gues what? I am 34 years old and still can't stand to have any of my food touch! I also have to seperate jelly bean and m&m flavors. I think it is a sensory thing. My tongue only wants to experience one taste and a time. So, you may be in for this for life with your son. It drove my mom crazy and people laugh at me today for it!
