After a nice little break… a night out at our favorite suite hotel and Family Day @ Chuck E Cheese’s yesterday, we are finally back to a family of four! We’re gonna miss having little Rocco around, but it’s good to be just us again too. His parents had a great time in a warm climate and I should be jealous but I’m not. Amazingly! The reason? We are planning to start work on completing our basement. Yay!!!! I’m so enthused, we’ve only lived in here a year and I always imagined it would be 5-10 years before the basement would get finished so I’m stoked!! We’re planning on making the 1575 sq ft into a den, rec room, guest bedroom, home office, storage room, furnace room and cold room. I cannot wait!! So there’s a lot of work ahead… this week I have to tackle cleaning out the basement to make room. Fortunately I’ve done enough decluttering lately that we have basically no extra junk hanging around, so my job will be that much easier!

okay, I must say how Jealous I am that your basement is maybe twice the size of my flat. Ha ha. One day I dream of a bigger place, but then my boys might be bigger and we won't need it. I would love a craft room and a guest room and an office that isn't part of my dining room. Ha ha. That would be a dream. :) Sounds great and you will have to post pictures!

It's fun to "get away" with the family sometimes, isn't it? Sometimes I just go to the basement to be by myself, but we like to get out of the house, too!

ReplyDeleteAmy, actually our "cold room" won't be refrigerated, but it will stay pretty cool because it's insulated and will have a vent to the outside. In our cool climate a lot of people have these and veggies keep pretty good year round!
ReplyDeleteAre you guys doing the work yourselves or are you hiring someone? A friend and I painted my living room, dining room, and kitchen ... I vowed to escape doing anything that foolish in the future. Love design but the hands-on piece isn't for me.
