enough already

Yesterday I got another call from our lovely friends in Orlando, informing us once again of our ‘free’ package. And once again they would not take no for an answer, and continued to harass me. I said 3 times I was not interested, and she seriously could not figure out why. I told her I’d been through this conversation several times already with her company and each time they wouldn’t take no for an answer. “Well, of course we’re not gonna take no for an answer. This is free tickets we’re talking about here…. blah blah blah”.

And so I did something I’ve never ever done before… after all, I am a nice girl… I told her, “Ma’am, I’m going to hang up the phone now. Have a nice day.” And I hung up, cutting her off midstream.

There.

I say you were plenty polite just to let her know you were hanging up. Isn't there some rule that after you say no twice, they are supposed to give it up?

I have no problem hanging up on telephone solicitors (though I rarely pick up for them). Sure, they're people...I used to be one. I was very grateful when someone would hang up on ME because then I wouldn't get in trouble for not going through the whole spiel of asking them FOUR times for money!
