retail therapy

Yesterday I went to the dentist for to get a permanent filling on my root canal. I took the whole day, dropped the boys off at a babysitter and set out on one of my independent shopping days. I don’t know about the rest of you, but I’m the kind of mom that needs… actually craves… alone time, and independence and just that feeling of value you get when you shop, and it’s just you… you can hand over the credit card at a clothing store and not have multiple voices vying for your attention at the same time. It was so therapeutic. Tech Guy doesn’t get this… most guys probably don’t, and I know a lot of moms that don’t either… but yesterday did more for me than therapy ever could. Selfish, yes… but I think it’s okay for moms to be selfish once in awhile!

I am totally with you!! I can't tell you how free I felt when I had both girls in school at the same time!! This fall they will both be in school all day - it's going to be good and bad. I know I'll miss them!

I don't know what it's like shopping with children (I imagine it's much more difficult) but I get that spending some time focused on yourself is wonderful! Particularly if you've just had something done like a root canal! :)

I enjoy shopping by myself. Last Saturday I went yard sale-ing all by myself and I LOVED it!

I love shopping by myself. I'm always hurrying, it seems, but I can accomplish a lot in little time.

Fun visiting you again!

lol, I was just telling Zach how I wanted to just go shopping for some shirts for summer all by myself. He didn't get it either.

I get it! I get it! Sometimes even a drive by myself when I don't have to listen to Veggie Tales can do it for me!
