{ power }

Buster, age 8, has a habit of daydreaming. He’ll be off in his own little world, completely oblivious to the world around him. It has affected his schoolwork some and definitely affects him at home.

But I’ve come to realize that when he starts tuning out, that’s when he starts thinking Big Thoughts. Thoughts that make you stop and ponder…

One example of this was a couple of days ago as I was driving him home from voice lessons. The van was quiet and we rode along, enjoying each other’s company. Then he broke the silence by saying, “Mom, I’ve been thinking about God and people, and I realized something.”

“What’s that?” I asked.

“Well,” he said. “I figure God is the power source, and he gives each of us a power cord to plug in, so we can have power and shine light around us. If we refuse to plug it in, then we stay in darkness, but if we accept it and plug it in, then we have God’s power and can shine light around us.”

That was two days ago and I’m still mulling it over…

“Do you hear what these children are saying?” they asked him.

“Yes,” replied Jesus, “have you never read,

‘From the lips of children and infants
you, Lord, have called forth your praise’?”

{Matthew 21:16 NIV}
