{ defining words }

On New Year’s Day, I posted my two words for the year, SIMPLIFY and SANCTIFY. But I didn’t really delve into what these words will mean for me this year.

{ Simplify } has to be one of my favourite words ever! I’m a minimalist at heart but I have let way too much STUFF take over my life. It’s time to take it back, find a system that works for me and the hardest one of all… spend a lot less money. Argh. I love to shop! For cleaning I’m using the Motivated Moms chore planner, which works SUPER when I actually stick to it. It only gives you a few chores per day but your house feels clean ALL the time. Love it! I’m also planning to stick to menu planning and budget my weekly groceries around that plan. Next on the list is tackling the unused clutter in our home and paring down our clothing, toys, household items to the minimum that we need. I really love how this family tackled the clutter and I’d love to do the 100 day challenge as well!

{ Sanctify } is a powerful, inspiring, yet for me somehow a scary word. Defined by the dictionary to set apart for sacred use; consecrate”,  it means putting yourself out there, completely open for God to see and mould and change… and that scares me. I want to be in control of my life and where I’m headed. When I’m willing to be sanctified by God, I’m saying, “Take me, use me for your purpose, shape me into who you need me to be.” And that means relinquishing control.

What scares and inspires you about your resolutions or words for the new year? I’d love to hear from you!

My word for 2012 is Strong. I look forward to pushing myself, and being more aware of the things I say or how I act or react. I am inspired by the idea and improvement of being strong

I think I've decided on the word PEACE. I'm going for more peace in all my relationships, peace amidst the daily grind, and it would be wonderful if I could be a more peaceful mom.
