{ one word.2012 }

I no longer do New Year’s resolutions. Statistics say less than half of people who make them actually stick to them past 6 months. I think we set ourselves up for failure by resolving to do the impossible; we set our sights too high…

As an alternative, I’ve gone the route of picking one inspirational word for the year, inspired by such blogs as OneWord365 and My One Word.

I wanted one word to focus on this year… to tape onto the refrigerator and remember, day after day… one word to bring to God in prayer each day and ask for His help and guidance in my pursuits…

What should my word be? I look at my life and I see a mess. I see a fallen human who tries, again and again to pick herself up and fails… I see so many faults – selfishness, pride, jumbled priorities, impatience. Words fill my head and I want to get this right, this once…

Two words jump out finally… SIMPLIFY and SANCTIFY. And I think to myself, why just one word? Why not pick two? My physical life needs so badly to be simplified and my spiritual life needs so much sanctification.

So I shall blaze forth into 2012 emboldened with these two words… and hopefully inspire you as you faithfully pop by to read. (if I WERE to make a resolution, it would be to blog more faithfully… sigh…)

What is your word for this brand new year? Or did you find more than one to inspire you in 2012? Do share!

P.S. I love this blogger’s ‘one word’, don’t you?

I will be praying for you, those are both great :) I love how the Lord puts different things on our hearts for different seasons!

I like your words too. Came here via We Are THAT Family and I'm adding your post to my list of "word posts" in my blog today. I love the idea.
